Halfmoon is a 30-year-old brand. Beth McTavish, the founder, started building her own yoga props in 1989 after a trip to India where she became fascinated by the calm and serenity of yogis despite the loud and colorful surroundings of the city. She started by making a yoga strap from a belt and then moved on to making her own bolsters.
